Can't believe the lupines are already starting to bloom! They're one of the prettiest flowers that grow thick in many roadside ditches starting in Duluth and going north. I've gotten a few to grow in the gardens here but the cooler lakeside temps have slowed them down a bit. They know when to bloom!
Now a word about road construction. 35W through Duluth is single lane, but only seems to be causing backups during rush hour. So, we knew about that. However, it's all of the other detours which we discovered yesterday as we tried to complete our numerous errands within the limited time our B&B schedule allows, that threw us for a loop (or several I should say). The average visitor to Duluth won't encounter most of these fortunately. It truly is the season of "road construction."
Memorial Day weekend usually signals the start of summer in Duluth, so all of the boats, trains, museums, tours, etc. will be in full swing. We still have openings, esp. midweek, for those who want to avoid the weekend and later summer crowds. Come up and escape the heat and humidity!
