Abundant sunshine and wonderfully warm (sometimes hot) July days are hastening the ripening of delicious raspberries in our small patch and the blossoming of garden flowers (including the nearby Rose Gardens). Raspberries are making an appearance in Jim's meticulously arranged fruit plates for breakfast as well as Joan's Raspberry-Rhubarb muffins.
We are drawn to the lake daily on these warm sunny days to enjoy the coolness of Lake Superior. Many a Duluthian can be seen swimming and plunging into its refreshing waters which have warmed up sufficiently for more prolonged exposure than is oftentimes the case. Thankfully, the muddy brown waters as a result of the flood have mostly disappeared.
The annual Duluth Rowing Club Regatta is happening today on Park Point and it looks to be a perfect day with still waters and not much chance of rain. We'll bike out there today to watch the fun and reminisce about when our boys were eager participants and we were finish line volunteers.
So many cultural events going on as well, including the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra concert Wednesday night, The Duluth Playhouse's production of "Hair" which is reported to have 15 sec. of nudity, and the One-man Star Wars show kicking off Geek Week at Teatro Zuccone. Many other events are going on as well, so check out the Visit Duluth website.
That's all for now from Jim & Joan at The Ellery House.
