Work in the office is never dull with my two loyal companions at my side (or on my desk). Lena's favorite time is when I finally sit still at my computer and she leaps into my lap for a little snuggling or pencil chasing. But if the window is open with the cool breezes coming through she takes up her post in the window ferociously meowing at stalking crows. Sven usually resumes napping when boredom sets in and there are no more guests to greet.
It may be raining incessantly out there right now, but all this moisture can't hurt after our dry winter and spring. Once things dry out a bit I'll be happily digging into the gardens the large pile of composted manure we recently acquired from our egg farmer. The trip to the farm was truly a joy as we got to hold a baaing newborn lamb and gather freshly laid eggs for our Ellery House breakfasts.
Looking ahead to the next couple of weeks (after returning from our youngest son's (Jonathan) graduation from St Olaf this weekend) summer begins in full force. June 5th events include the 4th Annual Three Bridges International Chamber Music Festival, Duluth Huskies baseball at historic Wade Stadium and music by "McInnis' Kitchen" at the free Chester Creek concerts. Wednesday night Yacht Club Sailboat races are always fun to watch out on the lake and the Lakewalk is a perfect vantage point. The Duluth Playhouse presents "The Royal Family" June 7th-10th and then the everpopular Park Point Rummage Sale with its 4 miles of bargains on June 8th and 9th. Check out the Visit Duluth website for all of these events and more.
That's all from Lena and Sven at The Ellery House!
