Spring is in full swing in Duluth and the inn is full of the heady frangrances of lilacs, azaleas, honeysuckle, wild phlox and bridal wreath. Beautiful flower arrangements delighted friends and family last Saturday as we showered our future daughter-in-law, Katie, with delicious food, gifts and the 1950's Housewife marital advice. Remember to freshen up, put a ribbon in your hair and be gay when your husband comes home from his tiring and probably boring day at work. Have a drink ready and fluff up his pillow and take off his shoes if he wants to take a nap. Clean up the children and by all means, keep them quiet (advice for the future).
Meanwhile, the guys headed to the Anchor Bar in Superior for the infamous Anchor burgers and beer (mentioned in Gourmet Magazine) and returned for a Bocce ball match on the Ellery House grounds. Peter made his brave grand entrance into the shower festivities with a bouquet of roses for his bride and was treated to a lime mousse desert and chocolate chubbie cookie. A good time was had by all. Now, just three weeks to the wedding! Wedding attire for the 3-day event has been an on-going series of shopping trips and purchases have been made in Ely, Chicago, St. Louis and Duluth so far. Just have to find one more pair of shoes, oh, and maybe something else to wear with that skirt from Ely and . . .
Nice to be back on the blog. You'll be hearing more from us!
