The predicted Thanksgiving snowstorm gently layed 4 inches of beautiful snow upon all it touched. Our morning hike along nearby Chester Creek was truly a "winter wonderland" of sparkling snow. The sluggish half frozen stream tumbled down its ever-narrowing path as we ascended through the towering snow-laden pines and cedars. Sven and Ivy joyfully greeted each canine friend encountered along the way. Too soon we were back at the car and the necessity of getting the turkey in the oven brought us home again. This was to be a small affair as both boys have other commitments. Peter in Chicago with a large family gathering at his fiancee's parents home and, Jonathan, recently settling into a month sojourn in Hong Kong. He is now more than half way through his incredible college Global Semester trip around the world. Wonder if they'll find a turkey? We will miss them but will be spending a pleasant low-key day with my parents playing cards and eating a delicious dinner nonetheless.
I will be posting another blog regarding the multitude of the Holiday Season's festivities in Duluth this year. Most importantly is the Duluth Bed and Breakfast Holiday Tour which will take place on Sunday, December 12 between 1:00 and 5:00pm. Spend a wonderful afternoon going from Inn to Inn experiencing the tastes, sounds and decorations of a Victorian Christmas. Give us a call at the Ellery House for tickets (1-800-355-3794)!
