Spring has come all of a sudden to Duluth with days of above freezing temperatures, strong sunshine and a bit of rain. The snow and ice has receded to protected areas in the woods, thus ending our daily cross-country ski or snowshoe outings on the fabulous Duluth trail system. Sigh. Time to get out the hiking boots and maybe our bikes! Another sign of spring is the first ship venturing out under the bridge into Lake Superior and it is rumored to be happening around March 19. Seems rather early this year. Check out Duluth shipping news at their website, www.duluthboats.com.
A wonderful new restaurant/theater/performing arts space has opened this past year right in downtown Duluth. We love it! We have attended many different events there, including, films not showing at mainstream theaters (beer/wine available) intimate musical performances (local popular bands,Low and Coyote), and comedy (Colder by the Lake production of "Older by the Lake" showing this weekend and next). The restaurant/bar has become quite popular and serves an interesting menu in a unique atmosphere. For more information and upcoming events take a look at zeitgeistartscafe.com.
